Mobile World Congress 2008 - Barcelona (formerly 3GSM)

New paper: Introduction to IMS

This is the first of a pair of white papers, intended as an introduction to IMS from a smartphone developer’s perspective. The papers will not contain a deep technical explanation of the network side of IMS, instead focusing on the interaction between end-user devices and the rest of IMS. This white paper gives an overview of IMS and two of its most important protocols, SIP and SDP. The second part will cover some of the practicalities of development on Symbian OS smartphones using SIP and SDP.

Porting: instant gratification on UIQ 3 (interview)

Lars Persson – using the pseudonym of AnotherGuest – is the popular and prolific porter of applications, mostly games, to UIQ 3. In an interview with Richard Bloor of SymbianOne.com, Lars reveals his motivation and method and wonders why there are not more developers porting applications to UIQ 3. Java ME on-device debugging for P1 and W960

The latest release of the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java ME platform introduces on-device debugging for the Sony Ericsson P1 and W960 UIQ 3-based phones. It includes the Java Debug Agent (JavaDebugAgent.SIS) which must be deployed onto the phones and provides the debugging functionality.
