Orange Partner Virtual Seminar

In September Orange Partner held a hugely popular seminar entitled 'Porting open source applications to Symbian smartphones'. Erik Jacobsen, Product Manager - Symbian, spoke about P.I.P.S. to participants from sixteen countries as far as Hong Kong, U.S, Singapore and India. Symbian Developer Network Forums update

There are now two Symbian Signed forums available. To discuss the Symbian Signed program use Symbian Signed General, and to report all admin issues such as locked accounts, registration problems, etc. use Symbian Signed Support Requests. Also, we now have a new Question and Answer facility on the forums with points being awarded for helpful and correct answers.

Forum Nokia Developer Community beta

Last week Nokia launched the beta version of the Fo rum Nokia Developer Community, an online forum where all developers, Nokia experts, and visitors can meet to tap into the collective knowledge of the global Nokia mobile developer community. This interactive service complements resources provided by Forum Nokia and the existing community. Resources such as discussion boards, blogs, and wiki (including the KnowledgeBase) have been moved to the new community Web pages. The Lobby is the main page integrating all of the developer community resources including the latest news, RSS feeds from other valuable information sources, videos, podcasts, and more.

Loaner Program Launched for Forum Nokia Developers

Forum Nokia recently launched a Device Loaner Program to provide production devices to registered Forum Nokia developers. Developers will order and receive the loaner devices through the Forum Nokia eStore. Currently, the program is being offered in North America and Europe. In North America, the following devices are initially being offered: Nokia N95, Nokia N75, Nokia E65, and Nokia 5300. In Europe, these devices are now being offered: Nokia N95, Nokia N76, Nokia E65, and Nokia 5700.

Forum Nokia Launchpad

Forum Nokia Launchpad is Forum Nokia's newest membership program for developer companies. It gives developers access to Nokia's developer platform technologies to accelerate mobile application development. Forum Nokia Launchpad is open to all mobile developer companies. Members need only provide a valid Publisher ID, sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), and pay an annual membership fee of 800 euros per company. In return, they will receive the same access to technical resources, tools and SDKs, platform roadmaps and documentation as do members of the by-invitation-only Forum Nokia PRO program.

New UIQ 3 tips & code samples

New emulator skins that represent UIQ 3 phones in the SDK emulator have been added to the tools page. A P1 Extension Package (UIQ 3 SDK) that provides P1 support including Sony Ericsson APIs, emulator profile and Sony Ericsson CDC Platform 1 can now be found on the SDK Download page.
